Hypnosis and hypnotism

ailsa_colour3Hypnosis is simply a comfortable and deep state of relaxation, with at the same time a heightened sense of concentration and awareness.

We are all in a state of hypnosis at least twice a day if not more. When we day-dream we are in an altered state of awareness/hypnosis. The same can be said of becoming totally absorbed in a book or movie, again this is a natural state of hypnosis.

Contrary to popular belief hypnosis is not mind control. You are always in control because basically all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You will only accept, comply and act on those suggestions that feel right for you.

How does it work?

ailsa_colour4Well to put it as simply as possible, when one is in a deep state of relaxation – concentration the conscious mind has become quiet, which in turn enables the subconscious mind to be revealed. The conscious mind is the part of you that is logical, that weighs up the pro’s and con’s that make decision etc.

The subconscious mind on the other hand is the part of the mind that keeps us breathing and our hearts beating without us being consciously aware. The subconscious mind reacts without thinking and this is where our habits are formed.

Hypnotherapy changes or deletes outdated learned behaviours (habits) within the subconscious to enable you to improve your physical and mental health and enables you to improve the quality of your life.
